Developed by Tara West, Guided Phonics + Beyond® Decodable Books are designed to uniquely engage students in reading while practicing phonics skills. These books are organized to prompt students to apply their phonics knowledge and read before seeing the accompanying pictures, ensuring that guessing and cueing do not occur. The pictures then assist in comprehension after the text has been read.

Each Decodable Book includes 10 fiction and 10 nonfiction stories.

No irregular high-frequency words appear in the stories until they are explicitly taught in Guided Phonics + Beyond® Focus Lessons.

The design of the book encourages students to read the text before viewing pictures.

Decodable Books are available for purchase individually, by unit, or in a bundle containing all units. Alternatively, they can be purchased in sets of 6 for small groups, by unit, or in a bundle containing all units.
